Student of the month for May is Tori Doherty
Congratulations to every one who graded on the 30th of May.
The feed back from the first beginners workshop was very positive! The second neutral grading examiner, noted the difference between the ones who had been on the workshop and those who did not attend.
The grading went very well with most students making it to A passes, how ever not every one will progress at the same speed, especially juniors, and it is expected that to grade you must be able to perform the grading criteria. We do not give belts away because you have trained for x amount of months, if that were the case you could buy a belt a lot cheaper at a shop!
Squad training!
For those who an expressed interest in training for competitions, there will be fortnightly training on Sunday mornings, starting June the 20th, the session will start at 9:30 and finish at 11:30,
You will need Running shoes, t-
Squad training is only open to 10 years and over who are yellow belt or above. Session costs £5 per person.
(It will be very hard)
It became apparent the week before the grading that very few students had read the news letter, and some students were waiting for the Instructor to say yes you are ready. I dislike having to approach students or parents, confirming you should be grading, or you are ready to grade, in my opinion it’s a bit pushy when you instructor approaches you and says you should do this or that, so I try not to , and to leave it up to them!
So when the next event comes along if you are not shore just come and ask a member of the team, and we will advise you.
I would like to thank Senior students Miss Waite and Mr S Doherty, and Mr L Doherty for supporting the new students grading, I believe so far Miss Waite has been at every grading for the school. Well done nice to see students supporting each other.
Private tuition: on Friday afternoons between 18:00 & 20:00. There are private,1 to 1 sessions available for students who wish to have extra time and coaching on anything they wish to improve upon. To book a private lesson call 01501 743 747.
Fees for workshops & gradings,
everyone now pays the same rate, there are no Gold or Silver Memberships.
The grading fee is £20
The workshop fee is £25 for members and £30 for non members, (as it says on the forms).
It may be possible to fast track students to the senior class on Mondays & Wednesdays, who attend squad training regularly, as the amount of training they will be doing will dramatically increase, along with there standard!
Be safe in the sun (if it lasts) take plenty of water before coming to class, and during the day, if you think you may have sun stroke, tell a member of the team.
